Representatives at Legislative Technology Day

Rachel Ear and Melody Suess, fifth graders at Pisgah Forest Elementary, represented Transylvania County at Legislative School Technology Day in Raleigh on February 13. Their teacher, Trudy Wetli, and PFES lead teacher, Sharon Hooper, accompanied them.  The purpose of the event is to increase legislators’ awareness of the use of instructional technology in teaching and learning.  Rachel and Melody spoke confidently and enthusiastically with North Carolina legislators, Department of Public Instruction staff, and others about K-5 technology integration at Pisgah Forest Elementary.  They met and talked with Senator John Snow and Representative Trudi Walend.  Mrs. Walend treated the girls to a private tour of the state legislative chambers.  More than 65 school systems from across the state sent teams of students and teachers to the Legislature to showcase the various technology-related projects and activities that are part of the current school environment.
