BES Media Specialist to be Published

Charlene Cali, BES Media Specialist, is being published!  In February 2007, Charlene submitted her Elementary Library Skills Curriculum for K-5, "Lively Library Lessons," to Upstart Books.  Upstart is a division of Highsmith Publications, Inc.  On September 4, Highsmith offered her a contract, and the curriculum will be published in the fall of 2008.  Charlene will receive an advance at the time of signing and royalties on all net sales.  Way to go!

 

Volunteer Service 2006-2007

§         69,821.3 hours is the equivalent of 48.5 people working 180 days full time.

§         At the minimum salary for a beginning teacher assistant, this is equal to $740,105.80.

 

BES Students Win at Mountain State Fair

The following students won ribbons at the Mountain State Fair for their art works completed during the 2006-2007 school year at Brevard Elementary School.  In addition, the BES school display won a First Place Blue Ribbon—their first time ever!

RHS Wins at Mountain State Fair

Rosman High School took home several ribbons from the Mountain State Fair.  The CTE booth won third place overall and $150.  Billie Wilson’s clothing class took first, second and third place ribbons for their dresses.  Students also took ribbons in the canning category:

Billie Wilson herself won four first place ribbons in sewing categories and one second place in canning.  In addition, one of Billie’s infant dresses took Best of Show.
 

National Merit Scholarship Semi-finalists

Brevard High School students Bailey Reidinger and Aaron Pratt are semi-finalists in the National Merit Scholarship program.
